Out of my interest, I have studied history and my findings have resulted in a creative piece of work. The story revolves around the life of Lakshmi, a revolutionary Hindu woman kannsda converts to Islam in order to marry her Beau only to realise that the conversion wasn’t abarana mere sham but an imposition on her avarans follow the tenets strictly.
The author has vigorously protested the tag that the book is inflammatory by challenging the reviewers to refute the points made in the book. I cherished every minute spent with itas well as the time spent with Lakshmi aka Razia the kannaea, who spent boik to complete her fathers unfinished research work about Indian history avzrana give it a shape and bring out the reality in the form of a fiction.
They never said that nothing like the holocaust happened. The perception is booo provoking. I will not go deep into the storyline or the characters but all I want to say is this novel is worth reading if you can take the harsh reality of our history with no sugarcoating.
There are many historical facts that are intentionally suppressed and distorted in our history textbooks. Ananthamurthywell known in Kannada literaturehas criticised Bhyrappa and his works, terming Aavarana as dangerous.

The book is primarilly centered to learn from history, but its unfortunate that the true history is veiled in Indian acadamics by imparting false perspctive to the subject. Picked this on an kabnada while travelling to Hampi, for I knew it has some relation with the place.
First of all, is history authentic? Aavarana is a thought provoking and compelling read. Quickly, about twenty pages into the book, I forgot that it was a translation.
I am sure I will read this one again in a few years, it is going in my perma It is apparent from the very beginning that this is a lofty book that makes you question the nuances of religions kanada see around you.
